I have afro-carribbean hair. I have my hair relaxed. I wash my hair. Apply a sillicone moisturizer. Blow it dry (so the moisture is out, but not straight). Then I use (what has been my miracle) a flat iron (you can buy one at a drug store, Target, WalMart, beauty-supply, and some salons).

When you use the flat iron, don't grab the hair tightly. They are designed to transfer the heat back and forth between the ceramic panels. If you stretch and pull the hair by grabbing and pulling tightly, you'll damage your hair. If you pull slowly and loosly, it will work properly without damage.

Also, go in small sections (this is very important). The smaller the better (unless you're looking for a fuller look). Each small section should take 1-3 swipes/presses with the flat iron.

Good luck and have fun :)
