How can I control my frizzy hair?

I originally didn't use conditioner b/c my hair was really oily. Until I started swimming, my hair became dry and frizzy and curlly-ish. I have about 5 bottles of shampoo to maintain my hair, but i still don't get what I want. I don't want to perm it either since my mom won't let me. I can't buy a hair straightener either also b/c my mom denys it. I get made fun of at school b/c of my hair. I'm not really willing to tie up my hair or wear hair assesories.

The shampoo I use is Herbal Essences. If you have any suggests of shampoo(I'm a high school student so I have to maintain about $10-15 budget) can u leave a comment?

Get Silk Infusion Oil from CHI, available at most salons. It is $13 for the small bottle. Pour about a dime size drop in your hair and rub your hands together then rub through your hair and it will flatten out all those flyways.

If your looking for a good cheap salon quality shampoo, try the Smooth Down shampoo from Paul Mitchell, it's about $9.

Generic brand Tea Trea shampoo/conditioner (compare to pual mitchel on bottle. Generic brand is way less expensive) from sally's beauty supply shop. the tea tree oil s/c balances ph levels and keeps hair from being too oilly or too dry. and it can be used daily. and olive oil on damp hair, if it's still dry/frizzy after it's air dryed (i don't sugest blowdrying) put a little bit more in. remember with olive oil a little bit goes a looooooooooooooong way! also try generic silk therapy. (biosilk)AND LEAV IN TREATMENT. (SEBASTIAN)

Well first off you are using too much shampoo, one bottle of something anit- frizz will work. Biolage is good, if you would be willing to save your money. Another thing is don't EVER not use conditioner, it replaces necessary oil in your hair and protects is, shampoo is there to strip your hair of the dirt. I would suggest that using the Herbal Essence would be fine. Try Garnier Fructis. And I would purchase some Biosilk it is just for frizzy hair and will calm it down a lot. A dime sized dallop would suffice unless you have hair down to your back then I would use a quarter size dallop. But remember less is more of this product or it will make your hair greasy.

Find a product such as cholesterol leave in hair treatment. That will help with tangles and frizz. Then you could use something like Frizz ease or serum. If that is too much on the budget I would suggest WAX. It weighs the hair down and gives it a healthy shine. However when you have frizzy hair most of the time you need to tie at least some of it down. As far as shampoo goes give Pantene (or the Equate version) a try...damaged or dry hair. I hope this helps.

I used to have the same problem as you have but was stopped dead in its tracks when I started using John Frieda products. He has a special serum and a cream called, "Secret Formula" and THEY WORK. Expensive, but it does the job. They're called, "Frizz Ease". They run about $10 to $15 a bottle. Also, my hairdresser told me not to wash my hair every day. Washing it daily strips it of natural oils.

Sounds like your hair is dehydrated from all the swimming. Shampooing daily to get rid of all the buildup, chlorine, etc. - those can be drying, too. I think a perm would make it all worse.

Get your hair back to normal health! First cut back on shampooing if you can. If you can't always, ALWAYS use a leave in conditioner. If you use conditioner in the shower, use minimal amounts. Hair is like a sponge and it will soak up and SWELL - which equals FRIZZ and flyaways. So use just a little or just the leave in conditioner (even Suave is good or Infusium). Comb it through. I also swear by Garnier Sleek and Shine. I do have a bigger budget and can afford some more expensive products, but there is nothing that compares to the SLEEK AND SHINE for me. I use it after each shampoo, after the leave in conditioner. Use enough to get the ends (you will feel it soften up). I completely notice a difference in my frizz factor if I DO NOT USE THIS STUFF. :)

Then....once a week do a deep conditioning treatment. Let it sit for 15 min. or so with a towel on or a heat cap (I have a heat cap and it is like salon treatment at home). Again, the swimming is drying your hair out and the shampooing is also. Try not to shampoo the roots - it will strip hair of natural oils.

If you can....give your hair a break. If you don't have anywhere to go and have no reason to do your hair, just let it be...give it a breather. I find my hair styles best when I go several days without shampooing if possible.
