It really depends how powerful they are.

I find straightening my hair with my GHDs is amazing, also curling with them is better than any tongs I've used. (GHD mk4s)

Curls from tongs last longer and are easier to use but they take a long time to do...

...curls from straighteners look nicer but fall out easily and are hard at first to master...

i think they both keep the hair in curls for the same amount of time but with straighteners you have more control over the size of the curl etc, and it's faster!

just make sure you use a serum beforehand to protect your hair and set it afterwards with hairspray or blow drying it (gently!) with cold air.

well curling your hair with tongs is better - as i suppose that is what they are designed to do but rounded barrel straighteners can still be really good because you can create different kinds of curls.

i think to be honest that they would stay in about the same amount of time. using hair spray is the only way i have found to keep them in for longer :) xx

well tonds will make a loose curl but if you want a tight look go for curling iron or even a wavy look braid your hair dip in water wait a couple of hours then unravel

they both have the curls last about the same amount of time. just use whichever is easier for you because curling with a staightener is hard to master.

I prefer to curl with a straightener... the downsides of curling irons are a set barrel size, whereas with a straightener you can vary your curl size, and also curling irons can easily crimp the end of your hair, not to mention they make it easier to burn yourself AND fry your hair. They probably last an equal amount of time, it just depends on your natural hold and how much hairspray you use, but I find straightener curls are much more natural and healthy looking.

Curling tongs as straigtners are meant for just that unless they are like 2 cm in width then you could use them but risk getting an odd looking curl, more of a squarish one, a curl with kinks if you like! Remember to use a heat defence spray such as Tresseme, i can vouch for that one and also for the loeal one too, they are not too heavy on the hair so the curls will not fall out. Have you heard of rags? Strip some rags around thirty for a full head and try to get a mate to help, tie the rag around wet hair and roll as you would rollers and then when you get to the scalp tie the rag. Dry what you can with a hair dryer and wear an old pair of knickers over your head till the next day and take them out spraying hair spray and you will have the cutest of curls that stay in all day and night!

Well it does depend on what type of curls you want and which ones suit you best. hair straighteners are good for loose curls

It depends on what kind of tong or straightner you are using! My tongs work really well on my hair and i really like the kind of curl that i get with them. But i get a better curl when i get someone else to curl my hair for me! Goooood Luckk! xxxx
