Can you tell me more about chemical hair straigtening?

My hair is kind of thin but it's wavy, I guess. I have just over shoulder length hair which tends to get quite wavy near the bottom. I would like my hair to be straight but do you reccomend chemical hair straightening for me?

I do use hair straighteners but I thought that I would be doing more damage to my hair using them daily then I would by chemically straightening my hair once in a couple of monthes.

Is it safe and what does it actually do to your hair? Also what kind of conditioner should be used daily, after the process?

Thank you! :D

- since ur hair is thin Soft.Sheen Carson will suit u more coz it will relax ur hair without making it fall flat on ur head. it will give it bounce

- chemical relaxers r good but they tend to make ur hair dry. so u'll need to mosturise ur hair alot to make it soft and glossy

- use shampoo and conditioner for treated hair like loreal Vive range

- do deep conditioning using hair mask like loreal elvive hair mask or kerastase hair mask or pantene oil replacement 2-3 times a week

- do hot oil treatment using olive oil once a week.

this will keep ur hair shiny and healthy without falling or breaking

Try the Japanese Hair Straightening system. It's much convenient and you hair will look smooth as opposed to normal chemical hair straightening which makes your hair frizzy

Well, it depends. If your hair is pretty healthy right now. You can definately concider chemically straighting it. (It's called relaxing your hair.) It will be a little damaged, but you can definately take good care of it afterwards by using a moisturizing shampoo.

Hope this helps!

Your hair might be too thin for chemical straightening and also it might damage your hair because these chemicals are very strong.

it is safe but it weakens your hair and it will also change the way your hair naturally is with the straighteners you have the option to go back wavy and if you protect your hair when you straighten it you will be alright

i think chemical straigtening can really damage your hair, and iw ould only reccomend it to people with like really curly hair. Also, when you chemically straighten, i'm pretty sure you cant like wave it or anything.

i think your hair sounds like using a flat iron would be easy enough, and that way you can wear different styles and save a lot of money haha

Chemically straightening hair is basically using the same product you use to perm hair. The main difference is to make the hair curl, you put rods/rollers in while the lotion is on. To straighten the hair, you have to ensure the hair is poker straight and sitting exactly how you want it when it is dry. The lotion is sometimes mixed into a paste and combed through your hair, left for around 20mins-30mins then rinsed and neutralised. This is the "old fashioned" way to do it though. Your hair HAS to be in perfect condition before you get this done as it could snap off!!!! DANGER!!! Also, if you have colour in your hair, this process will lighten it/give it a brassy ginger tinge...

There are some new up to date ways to chemically straighten your hair (apparently Jen Aniston used this kind of thing ALLEGEDLY!!!! Who knows really)

Anyway, I got this info from Handbag.com

Use either Dr. Miracles relaxer or Revlon Realistic Relaxer.

After the process is done for the daily routine to keep the perm looking good you must wrap up your hair every night with a silk or satin scarf. Add moisture to your hair by using a hair dressing. You will be only touching up the roots every couple of months not the whole head.

Chemical straighters relaxes the curl pattern of your hair leaving it straight even when it gets wet. I use a hair dressing for a daily conditioning and a oil sheen hair spray.
