Hair straighteners are making my hair look greasy?

why?

Hair straighteners are making my hair look greasy?

I would first recommend using a shampoo, conditioner and heat protectant meant for oily hair also, only condition the ends of your hair (from the nape of the neck down)

When straightening your hair use it on a lower heat setting at the roots of your hair as the higher the heat the more moisture that is being dispersed into your hair. To add volume to your hair as you straighten pull hair directly up and then let it fall, you can then go over the ends on a higher setting if needed.

Hope this helps!

your straightener is not a good one then. you should use heat tamer spray before straightening and try a new straightener like the Remington Wet to Straight. its only about $20 at Walmart or Ulta.

Hi,

I had similar problem and what I found was that it is better NOT to straighten hair everyday - as it makes it appear thinner and can damage hair anyhow.

ALWAYS use a Heat Protection Spray when using straighteners.

I dont think it is your straighteners, it may be your shampoo conditioner or other styling product.

There is nothing a straightener can do to your hair that would make it look greasy,. Maybe change your shampoo, i think that if you use the same one for a while, your hair starts looking greasy. And spend a couple of extra mins lathering up; rinse well too !

Its because you use them too much

I find that only washing once with shampoo and using a tiny bit of conditioner on the ends of my hair(where its more likely to be frizzy) and making sure my hair is totally dry before using straighteners works best for me...and dont use them everyday it kills your hair!

i dont think that the problem is your straighteners. maybe you need to clean the plates. if you use a heat protection spray (which you should!) you may be using too much and it is leaving a residue on the plates and its then going on your hair. i'd say its more likely that the problem with your hair is your shampoo and conditioner. they may not be suitable for your hair and are making it greasy or else your not washing them out of your hair properly. if this is the case it probably happens that when you dont straighten your hair it might not look as greasy and this is why you think the straightening is causing it to be greasy but when you straighten your hair you flatten the hair cuticle which makes it look shinier but if your hair is already greasy, it makes your hair look more greasy. i think you should change your shampoo and conditioner or make sure that you are washing them out properly. if you have a build up of product in your hair it will also look greasier so you should use a clarifying shampoo to take it out but dont use this shampoo all the time. only use it when it is needed
