How bad is it REALLY to use a clothing iron on your hair?

I plan on only doing it once, and I also plan on using heat shield serum.

I don't want to use my hair straightener because it's time consuming and doesn't do a good job and doesn't stay straight either.

So I only want to use a clothing iron on my hair once...is it really that bad as it's cracked up to be?

I mean, it straightens the same way so yeah...

Ok, it sounds like no matter what we tell you that you are going to do this...Lets make it safe. Do not put that iron to your bare hair unless you want a mass of troubles...put a heavy - and I mean thick!- t shirt over that section of your hair before the iron goes near it. It is as bad as it is cracked up to be...I was little during the seventies but by teenage babysitter did it..and wow...she looked really cute with a short hair cut. I suggest not doing it.

Dangerous and the heat is wayy too high for your hair. It will be very damaging. Just use a ceramic straightener or blow it out. I wouldnt put a clothes iron on my head.

I wouldn't imagine it being any worse for your hair than a regular hair straightener. Just be careful! My sister used to ask me to iron her hair, and it made me so nervous.

i have bought 3 expensive hhair salon style hair straightners and neither keeps my hair straight so i started ironing my hair....i find as long as u use a towel to seperate and no direct ccontact on the hair it works perfectly with no damage

form what i here it is really bad for your hair because it causes a lot of split ends compared to a ceramic straitner.

I wouldn't say its too terrible, though I'd assume the heat is much stronger than that on a straightner...then again, it will probably get the job done! I'm not a professional so dont take my word for it, but just my opinion on the matter :)

I know that it is fine as long as you don't actually place it on your head- but I don't think you're that stupid to do that. xD Anyways, my mom did it and so did her friends all the time when they were younger, and she told me to just do it now so I didn't miss the bus anymore.

Oh my gosh Ashley......It doesn't really sound that bad, but if gone wrong........like mine did......it can spell disaster. I did not know my nephew was near, tripped with the iron, saved it from hitting him, while I fell and the iron shortly landed on my neck. Least to say, my iron size burn that looks like a hickey was embarressing. So NO..... Don't try it !!!!!!!!! I couldn't help but laugh while reminiscing !!!!! Good luck though !!!!

I used to iron my hair every morning before school! And so did everyone else back in the days of super straight hair styles of the late 60's and early 70's. Just be sure to use a thick pillowcase or tee'shirt(plain white only) between your hair and the iron. DO NOT let the hot iron touch your hair directly! Have someone help you!

Ahhhhh..........................it can be done with a towel, but I wouldn't advise it. You may get burned seriously. But hey, that's just my advice.

I suggest going back to a really good hair straightener. They are designed to give that straight look day to day. Even tho you may have to do it a couple of xs a day. If your hair isn't naturally straight, then it's not going to stay straight. ?????

If you want to do it quicker and more evenly put your head in a clothing press and you can do both sides at once then.

Using an iron will take much too long.

I think the same effect can also be achieved by placing your head under a steam roller.

Another way is to hold your head inbetween a door and a wall and bang it hard 26 times. No more than that though because you can take the risk of the door handle getting jambed in your ear.

u can do it. u can even use ur hair straightner to iron a blouse when ur travelin...lol...really i've done it.

and a clothing iron is a bit risky since its big and it can easily run the riskof burning ur face. so b careful.

theres hair straightners that take very little time like 5 or 3 min to straighten ur whole head...i forgot what its called i think chi or something...it was around $200 or $150 but they're phenomenal!
